From its south-facing sea-view Japanese rooms and the Kaikei view bath you can watch the Sea of Japan, fishing-boat lights and starry skies, over kaiseki of local seafood, winter Oki snow crab and the signature mozuku-porridge breakfast.

In the fishing village of Tsuma on Okinoshima, Shimane, Hagoromoso is a small 11-room inn that calls itself the lodging closest to the sea in the Oki Islands. Rooms are simply appointed: south-facing sea-view Japanese rooms (8, 10 and 22 tatami) with a full-width window, and twin Western rooms overlooking the village. Free Wi-Fi covers the whole building. The second-floor view bath, Kaikei-no-yu, lets you gaze at the ever-changing sea and sky (sunsets and distant fishing lights), with ancient Oki obsidian set into its walls.
