A single villa on 4,000 tsubo of mountain woodland at Nagatoro. You leave your car at the contracted car park, switch to a 4WD, and take an unpaved track to reach it. There is an electric sauna and a wooden deck.

A timber villa standing alone on about 4,000 tsubo of mountain woodland at Nagatoro, Chichibu District, Saitama. One group stays at a time, in a three-bedroom house sleeping up to twelve, with eight recommended.
Getting there is part of it. You leave your car at the contracted car park and transfer to a dedicated 4WD for the drive up. Passing along a narrow unpaved track feels rather like heading for a hideout. Only licensed drivers aged 21 and over may drive the vehicle.
The building is traditional architecture, made as though rooted in the place, with craftsmanship and the beauty of natural materials showing throughout. The windows are treated as picture frames, so the colours of the season shift across them through the day.
The villa has an electric sauna. Step out of the sauna room and a wide wooden deck is waiting, wrapped in the scent of timber. BBQ runs on a Weber electric grill, and there is a pellet stove, a full kitchen, Wi-Fi and parking for two cars. There is one bathroom. Pets are not accepted.
Minano-Nagatoro IC on the Kan-etsu Expressway is about ten minutes from the car park.Entry is at 15:00, with departure by 11:00. Rates start at 88,000 yen per night.
