POOL HOUSE opened on 10 April 2026 as an annex to KAMOME SLOW HOTEL on the west coast of Awaji Island in Gunge, Awaji City, Hyogo. It is let whole to a single group per day, occupying grounds of some 563 tsubo that look down on the Seto Inland Sea and the sunset. It sleeps six.
There are three bedrooms, two on the ground floor and one upstairs, each 14.52 square metres with two semi-double beds. The lower rooms are the quiet ones; the upper room takes in the view through a wall of glass and catches the morning sun. The second-floor living and dining room is glazed the same way, furnished with pieces that have aged into the place.
The sauna room is built in hinoki and runs on a HARVIA heater that takes loyly. Afterwards you can cool off on the deck terrace by the pool or in the shade of the trees on the other side of the house. Swimwear or sauna wear is required in the pool and sauna; sauna wear, beach sandals and a sports drink are provided.
The kitchen holds a gas BBQ hob, rice cooker, microwave, toaster and a full set of cookware and tableware. There is a BBQ plan built on Awaji produce, and breakfast, made from local ingredients, arrives in a picnic basket. Outside the villa grow pesticide-free fruit trees and cherry trees that shift with the seasons.
Parking on site takes about four cars. Check-in and check-out are handled at the KAMOME SLOW HOTEL front desk. Arrival runs from 15:00 to 20:00 and departure is by 11:00. Rates start at 87,500 yen including breakfast.
