A one-group-per-day whole-house villa on high ground above the Pacific at Narita-cho in Oarai, Ibaraki. The layout is two bedrooms, sleeping up to ten, with five recommended.
The building rises in three white levels, so the sea stays at the edge of your vision wherever you are. On the roof there is a glass-walled sauna overlooking the Pacific and an open jacuzzi with nothing blocking the view; in the cooling space you rest to the sound of waves. The sauna at sunrise is the best seat in the house.
The interior is refined in white and silver. Kitchen, living room and terrace run gently into one another, so conversation continues while you cook. On the wooden deck sit an electric BBQ grill and a generous dining area.
The sauna, the jacuzzi and the BBQ are all free and yours to use as you like, which leaves the stay unbound by time or by anyone else. There is a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, a projector and parking for three cars. Pets are not accepted.
Oarai Station on the Kashima Rinkai line is about 15 minutes by taxi, and Tokyo about two hours by car.You take the keys at 15:00 and return them by 11:00.
