Whole-house resort villas on the shore at Yoan in Kasari, Amami City, Kagoshima, on Amami Oshima. There are two, A and B, each taking up to six adults plus as many as four preschool children.
The name comes from the mud of Amami. Like the mud used in the island's traditional dyeing, the property means to hold its guests gently and quietly. It positions itself as a place for stepping away from noise and sitting with yourself.
At the poolside there is a private pool and a wooden deck, with the sea in full view. The sauna is a hinoki barrel type fitted with a proper Harvia heater, private and surrounded by greenery. BBQ takes place on the terrace.
A treatment menu is also offered: chi nei tsang and gut therapy at 120 minutes each, Thai massage at 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and abhyanga at 70 or 100 minutes. Herbal ball or pinda heat therapy is available as an add-on.
There is a kitchen, with parking for three cars at villa A and two at B. Amami Airport is about 12 minutes away by car, or 18 by airport bus.From 15:00 until 11:00 the next day, the place is yours.
