Three private villas in the countryside at Hosenji Onsen in Kokonoe. Each has an 8 by 4 metre pool 1.5 m deep filled with undiluted hot-spring water, an indoor bath and a sauna, and in the pet villa your dog can swim with you.

Private villas in the countryside at Hosenji Onsen, at the foot of Mount Waita in Tano, Kokonoe, Oita. Three of them opened in May 2023, under the idea of staying as though you lived there.
Each villa has a private pool of undiluted natural hot-spring water, 8 by 4 metres and 1.5 metres deep. There is an indoor bath and a sauna as well, and the layout is a two-bedroom with kitchen. Underfloor heating, free Wi-Fi and EV charging are provided.
One of the three, Villa A Kakyo, is the pet villa, taking dogs from small to large. Your dog can join you in the heated pool, and there is a dog run.
Meals can be taken at the adjoining restaurant, or you can call in a private chef; courses run 15,000 or 20,000 yen per person, with 7,000 yen for return travel from Fukuoka. Room rates fall per person as the party grows. Coming from the Oita side, leave the Kyushu Odan Expressway at Kokonoe IC and follow Route 387 toward Hosenji Onsen, about an hour. Rates start at 239,000 yen per night.
