THE PANALI stands at Bora in Gusukube, on the southeast side of Miyakojima in Okinawa. Its grounds run to 1,601.72 square metres, with a building area of 85.01 and a floor area of 68.33. One group a day, up to ten people.
There are two rooms: an Ocean Suite with four beds sleeping four, and a Dome Room with four beds and two extra beds sleeping six.
An infinity pool runs off the terrace, looking out to the beach in front. The sauna is a barrel reserved entirely for you, heated by a wood stove that takes loyly. There is nobody watching and no queue, so you can go straight from the sauna into the pool. The room also has a proper Finnish sauna, and the cold plunge is filled with natural spring water drawn from beneath the island.
Dinner comes in two forms: French-based creative cooking by Tessei, chef of the Miyakojima catering outfit UGANARI, or an original Miyako beef BBQ grilled by a glamping master. A butler service handles airport transfers, drinks during your stay and setting up the BBQ.
Miyako Airport is 25 minutes away by car and Shimojishima Airport 45. Bookings take up to nine guests at once, and the person booking must be 18 or over on the date of stay. Rates start at 308,000 yen a night.
