Rivilas Park USA at Tatsu in Usa, Tosa City, Kochi, offers only whole-rental houses, four groups a day. There are two kinds: those on the coast, where you hear the waves and feel the salt air, and those against the hills, close to the seasons and the sound of the trees. One house, and only one, has a private jacuzzi. Capacity is five.
For bathing, the natural hot spring at the neighbouring inn Sanyoso is free to use. It is a chloride spring drawn from deep underground, known locally as the "hot water of heat", high in moisture retention and described as the only spring in the prefecture with both this concentration and this temperature. There is a foot bath as well.
The tent sauna is booked in 90-minute slots. You sweat surrounded by trees and step straight outside afterwards.
Meals are a BBQ where the meat, fish and vegetables are all fresh, built on Tosa produce. Alongside that: volleyball on a stretch of sea that feels like a private beach, campfires, fireworks at the shore, time spent looking at stars, and e-bike tours for an extra charge.
A minute's walk away is a canteen serving live shellfish buffet-style. About 45 minutes by car, the Nishijima horticultural park shows seasonal flowers and plants.
Check-in is handled at the Sanyoso front desk, and cars go in the dedicated lot beside the entrance to the glamping grounds. Tosa IC on the Kochi Expressway is about 16 minutes away. Transfers to Kochi Station are for guests booked on a plan with dinner and breakfast only, by reservation made at least four days ahead.
