Irabu Island has been connected to Miyakojima since 2015 by the 3,540-metre Irabu Bridge, the longest toll-free bridge in Japan. Cross it and central Miyakojima is about 20 minutes away by car, so being on the island costs you nothing in mobility. Nagahama is a village on the western side.
