This two-group-a-day glamping dome sits in the Hodaka hot-spring area of Azumino, Nagano, at the foot of the Northern Alps. Each dome has four single beds, air conditioning and a fridge, and stays comfortable in summer and winter; a private toilet and a roofed, curtained BBQ space that works even in rain are right beside the tent. The draw is the hinoki-wood public bath: a blend of the Ariake Kosei and Yumeiso springs, an alkaline simple spring prized as a soft beauty bath, enjoyed with garden views. Dinner is your choice of a ryokan kaiseki featuring Azumino wasabi dishes and smoked Shinshu salmon, or a local-ingredient BBQ (BBQ may be suspended in some seasons); self-catering and bring-your-own-food plans are also available, and breakfast is a set meal with an onsen egg and grilled trout. It is about 10 minutes by car from JR Hotaka Station.
