COCO VILLA Hakuba 01 sits in the Misorano holiday-home district of Hokujo, Hakuba Village, Nagano. It has three bedrooms and sleeps up to nine, with six recommended. Two houses share the site, 01 and 02; this is 01, the one with the sauna.
The sauna room was made with a 3D printer, the first of its kind in the Hakuba area, and runs on a HARVIA stove. You finish in the cold plunge or under a rain shower that wraps around you. It is electric, so it needs switching on in advance to warm through.
The kitchen has a three-ring hob and BALMUDA appliances. Cook, talk in the living room, grill on the wood deck: the layout points toward living here rather than visiting.
One bedroom is on the ground floor and two are upstairs, each with two semi-double beds. There is no bathtub; two shower rooms serve instead. A free towel set per person per night includes one bath towel and one face towel.
Winter brings restrictions for safety. From November through March, when there is snow, neither the BBQ nor the sauna's cold plunge can be used. Parking is shared with villa 02: up to three cars from May to October, two from November to April.
Echoland, the centre of Hakuba Village, is about eight minutes' walk away; JR Hakuba Station is about ten minutes by taxi and Azumino IC about 60 minutes.Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 11:00 the following day. Rates start at 85,000 yen a night.
