A four-unit glamping site along the famous Metasequoia avenue in Makino, Takashima, Shiga. Choose 7 m Forest Domes or the dog-friendly Suite Cabin and Dog Dome, each with a dining space and a private campfire; dinner is a choice of Omi-beef BBQ or shabu-shabu, and guests get free use of the nearby Sarasa hot spring.

This four-unit glamping site stands along the famous Metasequoia avenue (500 trees over 2.4 km) in Makino, Takashima, Shiga. With the changing seasonal colors of the trees as a backdrop, you can choose from two 7 m Forest Domes, the large trailer-house Suite Cabin, and the dog-friendly Dog Dome. All units have heating and cooling, a private dining space and a private campfire, and the Suite Cabin and Dog Dome come with their own dog run. Dinner uses Shiga ingredients led by Omi beef, one of Japan's three great wagyu, in a choice of an Omi-beef BBQ or a shabu-shabu of Omi beef and Omi duck, with a bring-your-own stay-only plan and an English-muffin-sandwich breakfast. Overnight guests are invited free to Sarasa hot spring, about five minutes away, with its large bath, open-air bath and sauna, and there is also a 2,000 sqm activity park and a free-drink service from 3 to 5 p.m. It is about 1 hour 20 minutes by car from the Kyoto-Higashi IC, or a bus ride and two-minute walk from Makino Station; check the official site for rates and availability.
