Shiga's first glamping site with private dog runs, limited to six parties a day and set just by Lake Biwa in Takashima. Guests stay in detached cabins of two types: a deluxe cabin of about 26 sqm indoors with a roughly 100 sqm yard for up to four, and a smart cabin of about 10 sqm with a roughly 145 sqm yard for two, each with air conditioning, a private bathroom and toilet, Wi-Fi, and a fenced dog run fitted with agility equipment where dogs of any breed or number stay free of charge and can go off-leash. Each cabin also has its own air-conditioned dining hut: meal plans serve a locally sourced BBQ featuring Omi beef and Lake Biwa trout (a standard course and a luxury Omi-beef course), self-catering stays with brought-in ingredients are welcome, and dog extras include locally sourced venison steak and a charcoal baumkuchen-baking experience with a dog-friendly version. Apart from the in-room baths there is a reservable open-air natural hot spring (40 minutes, 2,000 yen; dogs cannot bathe). The site is about an hour from the Kyoto-Higashi IC, or five minutes by car from JR Omi-Takashima Station with a reservation-only free shuttle; check the official site for rates and availability.
