Overlooking the gently shimmering Ago Bay in Shima City, Mie, THANS is a private glamping village of just three units. Each is a freestanding dome tent (about 30 m2, capacity 5) where wide windows and a private bathroom frame the ever-changing sky and sea and, at night, a sky full of stars: the ocean-view Premium Dome (Star) and Suite Dome (Sea), plus the Natural Dome (Sun) with its own tent sauna. Every dome sits on a deck with a private BBQ space, and dinner is a glamping BBQ of Mie brand ingredients such as Matsusaka beef, Ise lobster and appa clams, with a room-only plan for bringing your own food (BBQ grill rented for a fee) and a hot-sandwich breakfast; air conditioning, a fridge and hotel-grade amenities make it easy for outdoor beginners. Nearby marine activities include SUP and boat fishing. It is about a 13-minute walk from the Fuseda-higashi bus stop reached from Ugata Station, with a free reservation-only shuttle from Ugata; check the official site for rates and availability.
