Aura Terrace Ibaraki is a 15-unit glamping town spread across a hilltop with no houses around in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki, about an hour by car from Tokyo. Guests choose from several room styles (large-windowed dome tents, hilltop tents for stargazing, villa-like cottages and dog-friendly tents with a private dog run), and every unit has an all-weather private dining space, its own toilet and bathroom, and air conditioning. Activities include a private barrel sauna, forest yoga, pizza-making and a local-vegetable market, with snacks, drinks and vegetables offered all-inclusive. Dinner is a BBQ of Tsuchiura ingredients such as Hitachi beef and Rose Pork with skillet dishes, and breakfast features Ibaraki's straw-wrapped natto. Check-in is at Tojoji 503; it is about 13 minutes by car from the Tsuchiura-kita IC, or about 23-25 minutes by taxi from Tsukuba or Tsuchiura Station.
