Tenkunoniwa Amamu is a wellness resort at Ono in Takahagi, Ibaraki, on grounds the size of 28 Tokyo Domes, two and a half hours from central Tokyo. The buildings are open and warm with wood.
The theme is resetting body and mind. Programmes include fasting, a reset diet aimed at gut health, macrobiotic meals, yoga and detox treatments. Guests staying in the main building choose between the reset diet and fasting.
Horses are part of the place. You can ride, and animals roam loose across the site. Yoga is offered outdoors, surrounded by the landscape.
The villa comes with a barrel sauna and an open-air bath. Pets may stay.
