ETOWA KASAMA sits in a hilltop forest at an elevation of 300 m in Kasama, Ibaraki, about 90 minutes from central Tokyo. Rooms come in four styles with interiors supervised by lifestyle brand ACTUS: the SKY CABIN (4 guests) with a private sauna, the two-bedroom FOREST CABIN (6 guests), the bathtub-equipped SUITE CABIN (6 guests, only two units) and the air-conditioned GRACE TENT (3 guests). Dinner is a seasonal BBQ course of local ingredients, and evenings bring an outdoor bar and a fire place with s'mores by the campfire, plus a 60-item amenity bar and a herbal-tea blending corner in the main cabin. Pets are not allowed (assistance dogs excepted). Access is about 11 minutes by taxi from JR Iwama Station or 13 minutes from the Iwama IC; see the official site for rates and availability.
