A two-groups-per-day villa at Ushimado in Setouchi City, Okayama, looking out over the Inland Sea, opened in July 2024. There are two houses, VILLA N°01 and N°02. N°01 has a living room with a large sea-facing window and a wood stove, sleeping up to four. N°02 adds a private ocean-view bath and deck.
Each house has two bedrooms, and they are deliberately unalike. One is built to merge with the view, a morning room with two single beds; the other is a quiet space that feels like a cave in the forest, with a single queen bed. Both have bedside power outlets, linens and free Wi-Fi.
The sauna is a private electric one facing the sea, followed by a cold plunge and outdoor cooling in the sea breeze. The two houses use it in alternating slots, 80 minutes in the evening and 40 minutes early in the morning. There is a kitchen and dining area, so you can cook with ingredients you bring, and BBQ sets and paella are also available. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 10:00. Rates start at 83,000 yen per night.
