Villa Shion stands on the shore at Sakate on Shodoshima in Kagawa, a holiday house rented whole to one group and renovated in spring 2022. It sleeps up to eight.
The upstairs bedroom holds a queen bed and a single, and downstairs there is a double day bed; three sets of futons bring the house to eight. A barrier-free room on the ground floor has no steps, including its toilet and bathroom, though the entrance has a step and the parking area slopes.
The kitchen is generous, the kind where everyone ends up helping. On the 15-square-metre wood deck you can borrow a WEBER electric grill at no charge. Fishing, kayaking, a tent sauna, swimming and campfires all sit within reach of this stretch of coast, and the house itself recommends staying two nights or more.
As an environmental measure, towels and linen are not changed for stays of up to three nights. The house is non-smoking. Pets are accepted on the wood deck and by the entrance only, and you need to bring a crate.
Sakate Port is about five minutes away by car. Arrival runs from 15:00 to 24:00 and departure is at 10:00.
