The sauna is a proper Finnish one, said to be the first in Himi. In a log-built room full of the scent of wood, a wood stove warms you through slowly. After the sweat comes the cold bath and cooling outdoors, with wind and birdsong for company. The sauna can also be used on a day visit.
Beyond the windows lies Toyama Bay, and beyond that the Tateyama range. Sea and mountains enter the view at once here.
Meals are Himi wagyu and seafood. Rates include dinner and breakfast: the opening plan starts at 20,000 yen per person, the premium plan at 30,000, and the weekday plan at 15,000.
JR Himi Station is a short drive away. Kanazawa and Toyama are about an hour by car, and Gokayama is also within reach.
