Four private villas in Miyazu, Kyoto, ten minutes on foot from the centre of Amanohashidate. All face the ocean, with the Sea of Japan directly ahead.
Each villa has its own private garden holding an open-air bath fitted with a jacuzzi. Together with the indoor bath, every villa has two hot-spring baths; the water is a weakly alkaline simple spring.
The private pool is large, with two depths of 25 cm and 110 cm, so small children and adults can use it together. No one is watching, and you can stay in as long as you like.
The layout is one bedroom plus a living-dining-kitchen, with twin beds, sleeping five. The design is minimal and modern, built on black.
Meals come as a BBQ plan drawing heavily on Amanohashidate produce, and in winter there is a full course of live crab. Other plans pair a sauna with a waterfall practice at Kanabiki Falls, or offer ajikan meditation and sutra copying at Nariai-ji temple. The kitchen is fully equipped, and parking is two cars per villa.
