Grande Doggy's Resort stands in the Amanohashidate area of northern Kyoto, one of Japan's three famous views, on grounds of 300 tsubo. Two units are let per day. Central Kyoto is about two hours away by car. Capacity is six.
The rooms run to over 70 square metres and there is no area a dog may not enter. From the bedroom to the living room to where you eat, your dog stays with you. Inside, level changes are kept to a minimum, which helps small dogs and older ones.
Every unit has a private dog run of about 280 square metres including the deck terrace, laid with natural turf that goes easier on joints, so large breeds as well as small ones can stretch out. The space is entirely private and dogs can be off the lead, which suits animals that are wary of people or of other dogs.
The hot spring, Kin Onsen, is drawn from the property's own source and available in every room around the clock. It is high in iron, mild on the skin, and rich in salt, which makes it antiseptic and good at holding warmth and moisture, with circulation benefits as well.
Because each unit is taken whole, meals happen with your dog beside you. BBQ plans use Kyoto ingredients; a plan with dinner and breakfast starts at 31,350 yen per person for two sharing. There is a kitchen, Wi-Fi and free parking.
