Villas at Kabira on Ishigaki, Okinawa, placed to take advantage of the subtropical island's setting. There are four, named sky, sea, wind and wave, spread across two sites. Each sleeps six, or seven using a cot, with three bedrooms.
The pool is a private infinity pool of 6 by 3 metres, ringed with tropical flowers and fruit trees. A walk through subtropical woodland leads out onto a secret beach, and after sunset the roof balcony serves for stargazing. The interiors carry the refinement of a high-end European resort.
Breakfast follows a local-sourcing theme, built on ingredients from Ishigaki producers who each put something of themselves into them. Options run broad: shisha, yoga lessons, a tent sauna and aroma oil massage.
BBQ is available for a fee. There is a full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi and parking for two cars. Access is by car from New Ishigaki Airport.The stay runs from 15:00 to 11:00 the next day. Rates start at 138,000 yen per night.
