A one-group-per-day private villa on high ground in the forest at 600 metres, at Yukubo in Hinohara Village, Nishitama District, Tokyo. The 5,000 tsubo site is let to a single party. It sleeps six.
The bath is an open-air wood-fired hot tub, and there is a sauna outdoors. A fire can be lit, and the evening closes in around flame and stars. The water is spring water, not a natural hot spring.
Indoors there is a 100-inch 4K projector and 7.1-channel theatre sound. As the name suggests, this is also a place for watching films in the woods. A kitchen is provided.
Beyond the windows lies the panorama of the Sengen ridge. From spring's first growth through summer green, autumn colour and winter silence, the place changes with the season.
Tokyo Station is about 90 minutes away by car, and JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station is reached by car as well.Check in any time from 15:00 to 20:00; check out by 11:00. Rates start at 52,000 yen per night.
