WOODLAND BOTHY is a one-group-per-day glamping auberge in the mountains of Yozawa, Akiruno, about an hour by car from central Tokyo and reached by a roughly 20-minute climb from the car park. The main room is a large cotton tent (36 sqm, for two to four adults) with two king-size beds, and you can dine on the wood deck, light bonfires and enjoy handheld fireworks while taking in the sweeping scenery. A dedicated chef prepares grill courses featuring the local black wagyu brand 'Akikawa beef' and seasonal ingredients, offered either all-inclusive (dinner, breakfast, drinks, bath, sauna and bonfire) or room-only. A separate building holds a reservable bath drawing on the mountain's spring water and a private high-temperature sauna with a cold bath at no extra charge, while the tent has a projector, large speaker and Wi-Fi. The same grounds also include the WOODLAND CAMPUS camp site and the 150-year-old Kominka Omine farmhouse, and pets are not permitted.
