HAV HYGGE SETOUCHI sits on a private beach along the calm Setouchi Inland Sea in Aio, Yamaguchi City. Its four detached cottages each have a distinct character: the rounded MARU, the oriental HOSHI, the cave-like hideaway TSUKI, and the open KAZE whose roof you can lie on, with view baths, open-air baths, lofts and decks leading to the sea; KAZE also welcomes small dogs. Meals center on deck BBQ featuring Aio kuruma prawns, the local specialty, along with a hands-on nigiri-sushi set and an original bouillabaisse hot pot, and breakfast uses bagels from a nearby century-old-house bakery. Clear SUP, sea kayaking, fishing, a tent sauna and stargazing are on offer, and in summer you may catch glowing sea fireflies. It is about 25 minutes by car from Shin-Yamaguchi Station.
