Hoshi no Furu Mori is an auto-camping resort set in a quiet forest in Numata, Gunma, about 15 minutes by car from the Numata IC, where the absence of city lights turns the night sky into a natural planetarium. Lodgings range from the Australian-made log cottage Cygnus and the large Montana Douglas-fir log house Pegasus to the Finnish imported lodge Great Bear, plus loft bungalows and trailer cabins for different group sizes. Each has a nearby space for BBQ and campfires, and rental gear and a hot-water washing area make an almost hands-free stay possible. Seasonal activities include skiing, ATV buggies, horse riding, paragliding, canoeing and rafting, and pets are welcome.
