About 90 minutes from central Tokyo, Itsukiri sits in the satoyama countryside of Isumi City, Chiba, where every room comes with a natural hot spring. The grounds are dotted with six distinctive private villas (some with a sauna and cold bath or a dog run), plus two fully rented renovated farmhouses and dome tents set close to nature. The rare black hot-spring water, drawn from 300 m underground and prized for smooth skin, can be enjoyed in the guest rooms and in a large bath with open-air and indoor tubs, a sauna and a cold bath. Dining comes in two styles: an auberge dinner built around local Isumi ingredients, and a BBQ available in every room. It is about 90 minutes by car from Tokyo, or a shuttle (reservation required) runs from JR Ohara Station; check the official site for rates and availability.
