CRANDS is a cottage at Tsubakidai in Hachimori, Happo Town, Yamamoto, Akita, near the Sea of Japan, let to one group a day. It calls itself a grown-up hideout you can sleep in. Two bedrooms, up to ten guests.
There is a wood stove and a private sauna; the Finnish sauna is booked as an option and used exclusively by your party. A covered wood deck means a BBQ carries on in the rain. BBQ equipment is rented, and late March to September is the season for it.
Pets are welcome, dogs and cats alike, large breeds included.
The operator runs a set of sauna facilities that build on each other. By the sea is Sauna Cafe umikko, a day sauna and cafe that opened on 24 July 2024, and there is also CRANDS Sauna, a fully private sauna facility.
If you arrive by train there are transfers. They will meet the 13:34 arrival at Hachimori Station. Going back, they can take you to Akita Shirakami Station for the 10:10 departure, leaving the cottage at 09:45, dropping you at Hatahata-kan, a hot-spring facility right by the station, so you can use the baths, shop and eat until the 14:00 train. If you are in a hurry, they will run you to Hachimori Station for the 08:31, leaving at 08:20.
Hachimori Station is 22 minutes' walk. Odate-Noshiro Airport is 55 minutes away by car, Akita Station an hour and 20 minutes, Akita Airport an hour and a half. Look for the sign reading BeWell, the property's name before renovation.Arrival is from 14:00 and departure by 10:00. Rates start at 30,000 yen a night, with 5,000 yen added between 18 July and 31 August for high season.
