MEZZO ALL SUITE VILLAS is a set of four private villas at Namiji in Miyazu, Kyoto, ten minutes' walk from the centre of Amanohashidate. Every villa faces the sea, with the Sea of Japan directly in front. Capacity is five.
Each villa has two baths fed by hot spring: a jacuzzi open-air bath in the private garden and an indoor bath. The water is a weakly alkaline simple spring, rich in metasilicic acid, sometimes called a natural lotion. It is described as gentle on the skin and moisturising, with benefits listed for osteoarthritis, back pain, neuralgia, frozen shoulder, poor circulation and weak digestion.
Every villa also has a large private pool, split into two depths of 25 and 110 centimetres so small children and adults can be in it together. Nobody is watching, and you can use it whenever you like.
Each room comes with a spacious private garden and a fire pit, and every villa has a gas BBQ grill.
Meals come as in-room dining or BBQ plans. Alongside a BBQ built on produce from Kyoto's Tango region, winter brings a crab market plan serving live crab as a full course. Wood stoves and smokers can be rented if you would rather cook yourself, and a room-only plan lets you use local restaurants or bring your own ingredients to grill. There is also a free service of deep-fried and grilled dishes.
Other plans include a sauna paired with waterfall training at Kanabiki Falls, and Ajikan meditation and sutra copying at Nariaiji temple. With Amanohashidate Station ten minutes away on foot, the villas make a base for Kaisenkyo bridge, Chionji temple and the rest. Parking is two cars per villa.
