Four houses of contrasting character in Yufuin, Yufu City, Oita, each let to one group per day. They sit in a hot-spring town first opened some 1,300 years ago, and no two are alike.
The water is a high-temperature spring drawn from 600 m underground, available around the clock in each house's private bath. Which of the open-air bath, sauna, pool and dog run you get depends on the house. Forest bath, for instance, has a free-flowing open-air bath sized for a group, six beds plus a sofa bed and one futon, a semi-open-air bath as well as the open-air one, a full kitchen with microwave, toaster, kettle, rice cooker and capsule coffee machine, Netflix and a cot. The sauna house is built around a semi-open-air bath and an original sauna available 24 hours, with forest air waiting on the terrace.
Yufuin IC is about four minutes away by car, 2.4 km, and Yufuin Station about four minutes by taxi, 1.2 km. There is no station shuttle, so take a taxi if you arrive by train. Highway buses run from Oita Airport to Yufuin Station in about 55 minutes and from Fukuoka Airport in about 122 minutes. Each house has its own Wi-Fi, and parking is two cars per house. Capacity, bedroom count, rates and check-in time vary by house, so confirm them when booking.
