A glamping property in the woods between Yufuin and Beppu, in Hasama, Yufu City, Oita. Each of its eleven units is let whole, and no two are designed alike.
There are iconic dome tents, Japan's first two-storey oval tent, and a fully glazed light box, so the structure changes from room to room. Every unit has hot-spring water, and five of them have an open bathroom. The water is Bihaku no Yu, piped from Beppu.
Meals are a course supervised by Yuki Nakayama, a BBQ sommelier. It is a seasonal BBQ drawing on knowledge across cuisines, with Japanese-style dishes built on Oita seasonal vegetables and grilled fish. Some units accept pets.
Oita Airport is about an hour away by car, and a shuttle from Yufuin Station is available. Aquariums, an amusement park and hot-spring towns all sit within 30 minutes by car, which makes the next day easy to plan.
