Gable-roofed rental houses in the forest at the foot of Mount Ariake in Hotaka-Ariake, Azumino, Nagano. Each is let whole, and there are four houses across three types.
The detached suspension-bridge type, one house, has a semi-double and a single bed upstairs plus two single futons, with a queen bed in the detached wing, sleeping up to six adults. The vaulted-ceiling type, two houses, has two semi-double beds upstairs for up to four. A suspension-bridge type makes the fourth.
Every house has its own hot-spring bath, fed straight from a North Alps source. The water is a weakly alkaline simple spring, soft and said to be good for the skin. There is also a shower, a washlet toilet, a living room and an IH kitchen.
The terrace has a built-in BBQ grill and a garden table set with a parasol. A BBQ rental set costs 1,650 yen including tax and covers charcoal, firelighters, a grill net, tongs and paper plates. A Shinshu beef BBQ set from Azumino and extra Azumino wasabi can be ordered in advance at market price.
Check-in runs from 15:00 to 18:00, check-out to 11:00. Hotaka Station on the JR Oito line is about 15 minutes away by car and Azumino IC about 25. There is parking for eight cars and Wi-Fi. Rates start at 26,400 yen including tax per house.
