AWAJI DOG BASE is a dog-friendly glamping site on a hillside in Awaji City, Hyogo, overlooking the sea and sunset and limited to four groups per day. Every room welcomes dogs, with a choice of a round dome tent called Ocean Dome for two to six guests and American-style trailer houses for two to three, each with its own dining space, shower and toilet. Dinner is a BBQ of Awaji beef (a standard course or a premium one with top-grade beef and camembert ahijo), with a homemade bagel-sandwich breakfast and a room-only plan for bringing your own food. Dogs of every size are welcome, and there is a natural-grass dog run, a summer-only dog pool, free-flow drinks from a kitchen car in the late afternoon, campfires and cycling, with dogs allowed anywhere on site. It is about 80 minutes by car from Osaka and 10 minutes from Higashiura IC; check the official site for rates and availability.
