awaJ Beach Club is an adults-oriented beach club facing Ei Beach on the west coast of Awaji Island. Its centerpiece is an overseas-style resort pool with private cabanas, a 250-inch monitor and colourful lighting that carries from daytime through to a night pool. There are three villas (A, B and C), each with a private courtyard and rooftop deck overlooking the sea and pool, with A and B for two to four guests and C, for two to six, featuring a barrel sauna in its courtyard. Meals centre on skewer dinners cooked around an in-room irori hearth, a Japanese or Western breakfast, rooftop BBQ and a floating breakfast on the pool, with a room-only plan that lets you bring your own food. It is about an hour by car from Shin-Kobe and 90 minutes from central Osaka; check the official site for rates and availability.
