A resort of sixteen units at Funatsu in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, with views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Awaumi means a freshwater sea, that is, a lake. The pool at the centre of the site echoes the lake's shoreline, and the sixteen units stand around it.
Four styles of stay are offered: a suite villa of 115 square metres sleeping up to five, a dog villa with its own dog run, and cabins and dome tents for something closer to the outdoors.
Every unit has its own natural hot-spring bath and private sauna, usable at any hour. This was the first property in the Kawaguchiko area to fit all of its units with both.
The dog villas set no limit on breed or weight, so large dogs can stay too. There is an outdoor pool and an all-weather BBQ space, the suites have kitchens, and guest parking is provided.
Kawaguchiko Station is about 18 minutes away on foot, or six by car.
