10 Best Private Villas with Onsen in Central Japan for 2026: Shinshu to Izu
With a rental villa that has its own onsen, there are no bathhouse hours to worry about: you can soak in the hot springs entirely at your own pace. In this article, from the central Japan stays listed on TOMARIBI (泊まり火), spanning Shinshu and Hokuriku through the Mt. Fuji foothills to Izu, we present 10 properties with onsen whose details we verified against official sources, ranked by popularity. The selection centers on whole-house rentals where you can enjoy in-room onsen baths and free-flowing open-air baths.
How we selected these stays
This article covers properties listed on TOMARIBI (whose details our editorial team has verified against official websites and other sources) that feature an onsen (in-room onsen, free-flowing open-air bath, shared onsen bathhouse, and the like), ranked using on-site popularity signals (wishlist saves and page views). Rankings are never influenced by advertising fees. Prices are guides as of the time of research and vary by season and party size. Please check each property’s official website for the latest information.

Tips for choosing
- “In-room onsen” and “onsen (shared bathhouse)” are different things. If you want your soak entirely within your own unit, choosing a stay with an in-room onsen is the safe bet.
- Capacity figures are maximums. Booking with room to spare in your headcount also makes it easier to enjoy a relaxed wind-down after the bath.
- Rates are typically per building. “From approx. ¥X/night” is the lowest guide as of the time of research and varies by season, day of the week, and party size.
- Booking through each property’s official website is the most reliable. Also check the official site for spring quality and whether the water is genuinely free-flowing from the source.
In closing
Across central Japan, villas with onsen are dotted from the seaside to the mountain foothills. For more candidates and filtered searches, see the feature on stays with onsen or search by criteria.
