Garden Villa Minamiaso stands at the highest point of Natural Garden Minamiaso, a 3,500-square-metre garden in Hisaishi, Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto. The house itself is 150 square metres and is never shared with another party. It sleeps ten.
There are three twin bedrooms, and up to three sets of futons can be laid out on top of that. Because the rooms are separate, differing bedtimes and wake-up times stay everyone's own business. A corridor links the living room to the bedrooms, and there are two heated-seat toilets.
No meals are served. The kitchen and dining room draw Aso spring water pumped from 80 metres down. The covered terrace takes a BBQ, hired at 2,200 yen with the grill, charcoal, a chimney starter and tongs included.
For the length of your stay the garden is more or less yours alone. A hammock hangs among the trees, with Mt. Aso behind it.
The house is non-smoking and pets cannot come. Payment is cash only. Children under six sharing a bed stay at half price. Free parking is across the road. Aso Kumamoto Airport is about 25 minutes away by car, Kumamoto IC about 45, and central Kumamoto about 60.Check-in from 15:00; check-out by 11:00 the following day. Rates start at 32,000 yen a night.
