Gran Foresta Villa Nikko is a set of just six dog villas at Anazawa in Kobyaku, Nikko, Tochigi, in the woods. Each is let whole and sleeps five, and Tokyo is not far.
The private dog run exceeds 1,000 square metres, among the largest in the Kanto region, with room for any breed or size to run. On top of that, every villa has an all-weather dog run, so season and weather stop mattering. The villa describes this as the first such setup in Kanto.
Rooms are 73 square metres. Dogs stay off-lead not only in the attached run but anywhere in the room. Every villa has its own bath looking out on the Nikko woods, with a tub for your dog as well.
Dinner comes in three forms, including a BBQ eaten outdoors and hotpot taken slowly in the room, built on carefully chosen Tochigi produce.
You can arrive before check-in and let your dog use the run before going to your room. Dog supplies are provided, and in summer a pool for dogs is set up. Parking is free, two cars per room.
