The Lobs Toyako, formerly the Yellow House, stands on the shore of Lake Toya in Hokkaido. The house is 153 square metres and the lake is zero minutes away: it is literally on the water's edge.
The garden runs to more than 10,000 square feet and connects directly to the lake. This is where the BBQ happens, and grilling with the lake in front of you is more or less the point of the house.
Inside there is a living room, a kitchen, a tatami room and two Western-style bedrooms upstairs, three bedrooms in all, finished warmly. There is a hearth and a BBQ grill, a full kitchen and Wi-Fi, with free parking on the property.
Pets can stay, with conditions. The charge is 15,000 yen per animal per stay regardless of size, and a credit-card deposit is taken on arrival. Any damage to the room is billed in full and settled against that card. You must discuss it before booking; if you raise it afterwards and the house cannot accommodate the animal, the room charge is not refunded.
Check-in is self-service. Toyako Onsen town is about ten minutes away by car and Rusutsu Resort about thirty.Guests are received from 15:00 and depart by 11:00.
