CODE ROOMS ITOSHIMA is a two-storey villa at Nijo-Shikaka in Itoshima, Fukuoka, standing right at a stretch of water that reads like a private beach. One group a day, two bedrooms plus a living-dining-kitchen, up to eight guests, with five adults and three children recommended.
Both floors have terraces facing the sea, so the view follows you around the house. You can see the water from the bathroom and the sauna as well. The building sits high enough that nobody on the beach side can see in.
On the terrace are a barrel sauna and a cold plunge, both with the sea in front of them. The wood deck also holds an electric BBQ hob, a bath and a shower.
Bedding runs to two semi-double beds, two singles and a sofa bed. The semi-doubles are 120 centimetres wide, and the villa notes that two adults may find them a little tight, which is why five adults is the recommended maximum.
There is a full kitchen, parking for two cars and free bicycles to borrow. Pets are not allowed, and neither are visitors who are not staying.
Nearby you will find fresh seafood, oyster huts, hot springs, a country club and craft beer. Shikaka Station on the JR Chikuhi Line is about two minutes' walk, and central Fukuoka about an hour away. Arrival runs from 16:00 to 22:00 and departure is by 11:00. Rates start at 69,000 yen a night.
