A whole-house private rental on Oshima in Imabari, Ehime, along the Shimanami Kaido. It sits on the route linking Imabari with Onomichi in Hiroshima, where the slower time of the Shimanami islands, their history and their seasons are all within reach.
The layout is two bedrooms plus living space, sleeping four, divided between floors. The ground floor is a Western room with two single beds; the upper floor a tatami room where two single futons are laid. With the rooms separated, two households travelling together or two couples can sleep apart. From the upstairs tatami room the Inland Sea is visible while you are still lying down.
Every room faces the ocean, and the water is close by. The kitchen holds cookware, seasonings and appliances, so self-catering works, and BBQ is possible outside the building. There is a washing machine.
Pets are not accepted and all rooms are non-smoking. One child under three is allowed per adult, and parties above capacity should enquire by email. Room-only rates start at 16,500 yen per night, varying by season.
