Five suite villas set against a bamboo grove in Nishi-Atami, Atami, Shizuoka. They opened on 17 March 2026 as the top tier of the THE BASE GLAMPING brand, under the idea of a stay that is quiet, indulgent and entirely on your own terms.
Each villa runs to 188 square metres with a loft and is fully self-contained. On the deck sit a private barrel sauna, a cold bath and an open-air bath fed by the property's own free-flowing spring. The water is a sodium-calcium sulphate-chloride spring at pH 8.9, weakly alkaline. Because the source runs in the sixties Celsius, some water is added depending on season and weather. The open-air tub is built from Towada stone, valued for purifying water and for its far-infrared effect. Villas that accept dogs have a separate open-air bath for them, fed with slightly cooler spring water.
From inside you watch the flames through glass, and outdoors there is a fire pit and an all-weather fire space. Dinner is not a fixed course: you spend BASE COIN, the property's own currency, on ingredients and drinks from the marche according to how you feel that day. The same coins cover the spa.
JR Atami Station is about ten minutes away by car, and Kinomiya Shrine about ten minutes on foot. Rates start at 303,000 yen per night.
