AMAO VILLA Atami is a whole-house villa at Izusan in Atami, Shizuoka. It sleeps eleven across three bedrooms: a tatami room downstairs, and a Japanese-Western room and a Western room upstairs. Bedding comes to one queen, one double, four singles and three futon sets.
The private bathroom is finished in wood and dark tile. From the deep tub you look onto a courtyard garden made from Izu driftwood and planting.
The living room has a 120-inch screen, 5.1-channel surround sound, a sofa, a dining table and Wi-Fi. On the terrace are a gas BBQ grill, an outdoor sofa and garden furniture. The kitchen holds a three-ring gas hob, microwave, toaster oven, fridge, tableware, cutlery and knives.
Dogs may stay. Lead hooks, pet sheets, pet nappies, bowls and a pet fence are provided; you bring the lead, toys and crate. The fitted fence measures 60 by 180 centimetres.
Because the design puts the view first, the cantilevered terrace deliberately has no railing. Take care not to fall, particularly with small children; every part other than that terrace is railed.
Check-in is self-service using a digital lock, at any time from 16:00. Directions and entry instructions are sent as your stay approaches.
From Atsugi IC on the Tomei Expressway, take the Seisho Bypass onto Route 135 heading south; it is about 15 minutes on from Izusan. From Nagaizumi-Numazu IC on the Shin-Tomei, take the Izu Jukan and Nekkan roads toward Atami, about ten minutes after the pass. JR Atami Station is 15 minutes away. From Izu-Kogen Station on the Izukyu line, the nearest stop is Higashi-Omuro, ten minutes by bus. Parking takes three cars. Check-out is by 10:00. Rates start at 96,000 yen a night.
