天空の温泉ヴィラ 紬(つむぎ)河口湖
Five villas near a hilltop above Lake Kawaguchi, each with an open-air bath fed by the Shurei-no-yu source and an indoor private sauna, and each looking out at Mt. Fuji and the lake.
- Mountain view

Tsumugi stands near a hilltop at Oishi in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Minamitsuru, Yamanashi, as a set of five villas, 90 minutes by car from central Tokyo. Every one of them looks out at Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi, and because the mountain changes with the season, the same villa gives a different view depending on when you come.
All five have an open-air bath fed by natural hot spring. The water comes from Shurei-no-yu, one of the five sources of Kawaguchiko Onsen, and you soak with the mountain and the lake in front of you, undisturbed.
Indoors there is a private sauna, free to use at any point in your stay, with a cold plunge and a cooling-off corner so you can alternate as long as you like.
Of the five, the Suite Villa sleeps six and the Standard and Glamping units sleep four each. The Suite Villa is the only two-storey building on the site, with two double beds and a king, laid out to be lived in rather than merely slept in. Reclining chairs sit on the terrace, and from the deck you see the lake and the mountain across an ornamental water feature. It is not a pool.
Neither check-in nor check-out involves meeting a staff member. Kitchen tools, appliances and amenities are all provided, which suits longer stays.
Within a 30-minute drive there is everything from a herb garden to a wine cellar. A complex next to Oishi Park houses nine shops and cafes, a lava cave formed by Mt. Fuji's flows takes about 15 minutes to walk, and a blueberry farm of some 1,500 bushes offers all-you-can-eat with no time limit.
From Tokyo and Shinjuku it is about 22 minutes from Kawaguchiko IC via the Metropolitan Expressway Route 4 and the Chuo Expressway; from Shizuoka and Nagoya, about 24 minutes from Fujiyoshida IC via the Tomei, Shin-Tomei and Higashi-Fujigoko roads. Rates start at 139,000 yen a night.
