COCO VILLA Nasu Kogen is a single-storey villa with a loft at Takaku-hei in Nasu Town, Tochigi, on the Nasu highlands. It has three bedrooms plus a living-dining-kitchen and a loft, sleeping up to twelve, with six recommended.
Each of the three bedrooms holds two semi-double beds, and six single futons can be laid in the loft. All the mattresses are France Bed. High ceilings, the grain of the wood and soft light make it workable for two households travelling together. The kitchen and dining area are properly equipped, which suits several nights spent living here rather than passing through.
The sauna is a large glass-walled room with the green of the trees filling the window, running on a proper Harvia electric heater. Step out of it and the cooling-off space and the open-air bath are right there. The bath faces the Nasu range and reads differently in the morning than at night. There is a cold plunge and a goemon-style iron bath as well. Being electric, the sauna needs switching on ahead of time to warm through.
On the wood deck, tables and chairs make an outdoor living room that doubles as the dining space and the BBQ area. There is a wood stove and a fire pit, though both are restricted in dry or windy conditions when fire risk rises.
Parking takes up to four cars in front of the villa. Houses stand nearby, so the villa asks that you park considerately. Nasu IC on the Tohoku Expressway is about 15 minutes away.Check-in starts at 15:00, and the house is yours until 11:00 the next day.
