A four-villa retreat opened in May 2025 on the Nasu highlands, each unit with a hot-spring open-air bath, private sauna and pool across some 200 square metres.

Bettei Shiki opened on 30 May 2025 in the woods of the Nasu highlands in Nasu Town, Tochigi, as a retreat of just four villas. Each is let whole and occupies around 200 square metres, sleeping eight across two bedrooms.
The interiors hold Japanese restraint against Western polish, with the seasons opening out beyond a generous living room. Every villa has an open-air bath fed by natural hot spring, good for as many soaks as you like: dappled forest light by day, stars at night.
Each villa also has its own sauna, where you can pour water over heated stones for loyly, with aroma oils provided. Every unit has a pool, each of a different design. They are not heated, so they serve as somewhere to swim in summer, a still water feature in winter, and a cold plunge after the sauna year round.
One of the four villas is dog-friendly, with a 100-square-metre private dog run and amenities for your dog.
Dinner can be one of two BBQ menus, shabu-shabu eaten in the room, or a course combining both, all built on seasonal Tochigi and Nasu produce and branded beef. There is also a kitchen if you would rather cook. Each villa comes with a free bundle of firewood, plus ReFa shower heads, hairdryers and irons.
Reception is at the management building of the neighbouring group site, Glamping B&V. Park, walk over without your luggage, and a staff member will take you to your villa afterwards. Two parking spaces sit in front of each villa, with shared spaces for a third car onward. Nasu IC is about seven minutes away, Tokyo about two hours fifteen.
