Dog Villa Fuji Kawaguchiko is a private resort for guests travelling with dogs, at Fujikawaguchiko in Yamanashi at the foot of Mt. Fuji. There are seven units, at 850 metres above sea level, where the air is clear and the stars come out in full. Central Tokyo is 90 minutes away by car. Capacity is six.
The units come in three types: the Forest Garden Villa, which suits groups; the Suite Villa, which has a private pool; and the Natural Villa, aimed at couples. Each is let whole.
Every room has a private dog run laid with natural turf. Dogs that are wary of other dogs, or that rarely get to run, can be out in a garden with their owner in sight. The size differs by room.
There is a hot-spring bath in the room, along with a private sauna and a pool. Dinner is built on Yamanashi produce. Each unit is fully fitted out with amenities.
The Fuji Five Lakes area has many places you can visit with a dog, among them the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, Oishi Park and Hana no Miyako Park at Lake Yamanaka. There is a kitchen and parking.
