THE SUITE is a private resort villa at Iwaya in Awaji City, Hyogo, near the island end of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. It opened on 2 October 2021 and is let whole to one group, sleeping up to eight.
A living room and a tatami space share the upper floor, so the party can split up to sleep. The bridge is visible from the rooms, and after dark you can sit by the pool watching it lit up.
The private pool measures 7 by 3 metres and a metre deep, and is yours alone for the stay. It is not heated. Use ends at 21:00. On the same terrace is a fully glazed BBQ space, which doubles as indirect lighting for the terrace at night; it also closes at 21:00.
There is a hot spring inside the room, a mild simple spring, drained and refilled completely between guests. Supply was suspended for a period from August 2025 and resumed on 15 June 2026.
Meals go one of two ways: a glamping BBQ produced by Ryowa Daido, a Michelin-starred restaurant on Kobe's Kitanozaka, chosen from two menus, or a room-only booking where you cook as you like using the indoor kitchen and the BBQ grill provided.
Check-in is self-service, and there is almost no occasion during the stay to meet anyone, staff included. Kobe is about 30 minutes away by car.
