A one-group-per-day whole-house villa at Yura in Sumoto, on the eastern shore of Awaji Island, Hyogo. It takes up to twelve adults, or fifteen people including children; primary school age and under stay free.
The sauna is the heart of the place. The owner, a sauna enthusiast, designed it himself, and the room looks out over the Seto Inland Sea, allowing both lying down and self-loyly. Temperature and humidity can be adjusted. You watch the sea change through the hours as you settle. A cold bath and a jacuzzi follow, and BBQ equipment is lent free of charge. The garden is large enough to make grilling seasonal produce worthwhile.
Beyond the sauna, the terrace and bedrooms also face the Inland Sea. Facilities include a fitted kitchen, Wi-Fi, a projector and free parking for three cars.
Since October 2024 the property has run contact-free, with no staff on site. Sumoto IC is about 20 minutes away via the coast road, and Harakawa Station about four minutes on foot. Check-in is at 16:00 and check-out at 11:00.
